Hoorah! My gf bought me an Iphone for Xmas. At first, I thought, geez, she’s spent too much money on me and I felt guilty (she’s only a student!).

Anyway, I’ve tried to avoid all things Apple…  not that I have anything against them personally, it’s just that my bunch of Windows/PC pals who used to only chat about all good things Windows/PCs have all migrated over to the Apple platform.. they started off with Ipods, then the Apple Mac computers and now Iphones.

I must admit, everything about what Apple does has a sense of style and the user interfaces on all their stuff is intuitive and fantastic. You get a sense of it being well thought out and designed.

Another reason why I was apprehensive initially with regards to the Iphone my girlfriend bought is that I just recently got myself the HTC Touch mobile phone… it seems a waste to make one redundant.

Anyway, I am carrying my HTC most of the time simply because I know how to use it and secondly because I’m conscious that I might be mugged if I carry the Iphone with me. I’d be cautious to even take a call from it.. if someone rings, I’ll either have to run away and park myself in some alcove or ensure that it’s in broad daylight (and being this time of year, you’ll be lucky!)

I have been playing with the Iphone in the safety of my own home and the more I play with it, the better it becomes. There are so many features and I like how there’s this program called Installer (it’s some third party software) which allows me to install all the homebrew software and applications.

For those that know, the HTC runs on the Windows 2006 platform. The Mac, I guess runs on it’s own proprietory OS….  I’m firmly in the Windows/Microsoft camp but if Microsoft don’t do anything pronto, they are going to lose more and more market share. I think it’s a matter of time before the Iphone becomes my defacto standard!! I hope none of my pals who have already moved onto the Mac platform read this, they’ll just say “I told you so!”
